MOMS Club of Wachusett Region

MOMS Offering Moms Support

Who We Are

History

The MOMS Club® Organization was founded in 1983 when an at-home mother in California decided she was tired of being alone at home. She wanted to meet other at-home mothers and find other at-home children for her children to play with. When she discovered there were no other organizations that met during the day and allowed her to come with her baby and preschooler, she decided to start a brand new organization just for at-home mothers, and the MOMS Club was born.

The chapter she started was so successful, she knew mothers in other areas must need a MOMS Club, too. Soon she and other volunteers were helping mothers start MOMS Clubs across the country and around the world!  We now have over 2000 chapters all over the world!

The Wachusett chapter of the MOMS Club was founded in 1997 and has approximately 30 members and 60+ children!  Our chapter serves the towns of Holden, Rutland, Princeton and Paxton, Massachusetts and is ALWAYS open to new members. Although some of us have lived in the area for years and are experienced mothers, many of us are new in town or new to motherhood!  We all have one thing in common - the MOMS Club introduced us to other moms... the ones that soon became our friends!

What Makes Us Special

  • We meet during the day, when at-home mothers most need support!
  • We believe being a mother shouldn't isolate you, so mothers may bring their children with them!
  • We offer the support by planning playgroups, park days, field trips, and other types of activities to give moms opportunities to socialize and to allow their kids time to interact with other kids.
  • We know being an at-home/part time working mother today means making a financial sacrifice, so dues to our local chapter are only $25 per year!
  • Mothers of any age children are welcome! You don't have to leave the group when your children enter school! We know you still need support as your children grow!
  • The MOMS Club is a nonprofit corporation and a 501 (C) (3) publicly-supported charity registered with the IRS

Goals

  • To provide a support group for mothers who are at home
  • To provide a forum for topics of interest to mothers
  • To help children in the community
  • To perform at least one service project yearly helping needy children
